Five crystal-clear tips:
  • Don't put fine stemware, especially crystal, in the dishwasher. Wash it in a towel-lined sink in lukewarm water, one piece at a time, with a mild dish soap.
  • Don't soak glasses, especially if they have silver or gold accents.
  • To avoid chipping and scratching glassware, remove your rings and bracelets and hold stemware by the bowl.
  • Invert glasses and let them drip-dry to prevent water spots.
  • For stubborn spots, swirl a handful of uncooked rice in glasses filled with vinegar or lemon juice and water.
