Painting terra-cotta pots is a low-risk, high-impact way to bring saturated color into a room. Brush clean, dry, new pots ($1 to $5 each) with acrylic paints. Mix the paints with a white acrylic to get the shade you want. Here, Lascaux Artists' acrylics in Turquoise Blue (No. 946) and Bordeaux Red (No. 926), www.savoir-faire.com. They dry in a matter of minutes.
