A jean jacket can last a lifetime. Some tips from Levi's to ensure that yours ages gracefully:
The first time you launder your jacket, wash it alone to prevent dye from bleeding onto other clothes.
Turn the jacket inside out to slow fading.
Wash in warm or cold water. Hot water fades colors faster and breaks down fibers more quickly. Avoid detergents containing bleach for the same reasons.
Air-dry to maintain the original color and condition. Tumble-drying eventually causes fading and tearing.
To keep the original look, dry-clean, machine-wash, or hand wash only as necessary. But note that dry-cleaning, which can preserve that crisp, new condition, may cause cotton to yellow over time.
