Look for scarves that are 18 to 22 inches square.
A. Measure the scarf, then cut a piece of muslin to the same dimensions plus 6 inches on one side.
B. Fold the muslin in half, press, then cut along the fold.
C. Finish 1 long edge of each rectangle by turning under 1/2 inch of the material, pressing, turning 1/2 inch again, pressing, and machine stitching.
D. Pin the rectangles to the scarf, right sides together, so that the finished edges overlap in the center of the scarf. Machine stitch all 4 sides, using a silk needle to avoid fabric damage.
E. Turn right side out, press, and insert a pillow form. Muslin, about $2 a yard at fabric stores. Feather-and-down pillow inserts, $12 each at Pottery Barn,
