What are your favorite organizing tricks for the tools and toys of summer?

We use a plastic milk crate to store and carry my son's beach toys. He flips it upside-down to sit on while he's building sand castles, or I sit on it and watch him. Before leaving the beach, we wash the whole crateful of toys by swishing it in the water.
