The sun went down sometime around Halloween, and you expect it to come back up around Mother's Day. To bathe your home in the next best thing to natural sunlight, try color-enhancing incandescent bulbs. Both the GE Reveal and the Philips Natural lines filter out the dreary yellow tones that can make you look washed-out. The light from these bulbs more closely mimics daylight, so colors look more vivid. The downside: These pale blue bulbs are up to twice as expensive as standard bulbs, and they last only four to six months (just like winter).
To Buy: GE Reveal lightbulbs, $3 to $4 for a four-pack, www.gelighting.com for store locations. Philips Natural lightbulbs, about $2 for a four-pack, Home Depot stores.
