Your teenage daughter has outgrown her twin bed and now occupies a queen (to match her occasional attitude). Instead of donating the twin mattress set, fashion it into a simple sofa that everyone in the family can use.

First, push the bed lengthwise against a wall. Add a flat bed skirt, a fitted daybed cover (or simply tuck a thin blanket or quilt around the mattress), and a stack of three or four square pillows.
