Items that defy transformation the stroller, the baby carrier, and the ExerSaucer, to name a few are perfect candidates for resale or charity donation.
Resale shops are usually appointment only. Wash all clothes and cloth seat covers. Most shops give you a percentage of the sale price or offer store credit. Many charitable organizations, including the Salvation Army (www.salvationarmyusa.org) and Goodwill (www.goodwill.org), accept all manner of gently used items. The Salvation Army will send a truck to your home to pick up large furniture and large bags of clothing. Battered-women’s shelters accept donations of baby goods. Browse the list of branches of the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (www.ncadv.org) and call the nearest one to locate a shelter in your area.Offer your free, unwanted items to a neighbor in need by posting them on a community bulletin board at www.freecycle.org. Call the librarian at a local public school and inquire about the school system’s policy on book donations.
