Some people stress about everything, all the time. To gauge whether your worry is excessive, psychologist Susan Nolen-Hoeksema and psychiatrist Edward Hallowell suggest you answer the following questions. If you answer yes to three or more of them and you can’t get a grip on your worrying, talk to a therapist. Medication or counseling could help ease your mind.
Do you think you’re preoccupied by your troubles more than most of your friends are by theirs?Do other people say that you worry too much?Do you wish you worried less? Do you often lie awake at night thinking of worst-case scenarios?Does a fear of being fired affect your ability to unction at work?Is your anxiety giving you stomachaches, headaches, or some other malady?Does your uneasiness or insecurity prevent you from enjoying yourself?Do you have trouble turning off your worries?
