With everyone in the family these days owning several portable electronic devices (cell phone, iPod, PDA, digital camera), chances are many of your home’s outlets are clogged with chargers, each dripping wires to lure klutzy feet.

  • DIY Solution: Create a designated area for charging, with a spot assigned to each family member. Clear out a cabinet or a shelf and install a power strip. Belkin’s new Compact Surge Protector ($40, www.belkin.com) fits eight outlets — four sized for big charger plugs — into one small strip.

  • Cool Tool: Five gadgets at a time can recharge in the Rotaliana Multipot personal electric charger (shown above; $228, www.dwr.com). It keeps them confined to about one square foot of space, hides the wires inside the pot, and requires just one wall outlet for the Multipot’s cord. The pot can be set to glow softly as it charges or sit quietly in the dark.
