Today’s high-strength vacuum cleaners pick up particles you can’t even see. And lest they spew them back into the room, where they may aggravate allergies, many vacuums now come with extra-strength filters. HEPA (high-efficiency particulate air) filters, found on the Dirt Devil Reaction and Vibe, the Eureka Optima, and the Dyson Ball , are designed to remove microparticles, like pet dander and mold spores. The Oreck has its own filtration system, also designed to remove allergens. If you decide you need a filter, be sure to check the owner’s manual for replacement and maintenance tips.
