In “This Clean House,” from the May 2005 issue of Real Simple, deep-cleaning tasks — from washing walls to scrubbing kitchen appliances — are broken down into three simple steps. Here’s a guide to where you can find some of the cleaning tools mentioned along the way. (Note: The reference on page 230 to a “white (low-abrasion) S.O.S. pad” for use on oven racks is incorrect. What’s needed is a low-abrasion sponge or scrubber, such as the blue S.O.S. All-Surface Sponge, listed below.)

Carpet brush for maintenance cleaning of rugs (page 226):
Don Aslett Handi Groom Carpet Rake and Spotting Tool
This brush features sturdy bristles, a scraping blade to assist in spot removal, and an easy-grip handle.
To Buy: $7, www.donaslett.com.

Microfiber cloths for dusting inside cabinets (page 229):
Don Aslett Microfiber Towels
These 16-by-16-inch, 100 percent microfiber towels are soft enough to dust delicate surfaces, and they’re reusable (just throw them in the washing machine).
To Buy: $9 for a pack of three, www.donaslett.com.

Electrostatic cloths for dusting inside cabinets (page 229):
Swiffer Cloths
They’re disposable 8 1/2-by-11-inch dust-attracting alternatives to microfiber cloths.
To Buy: $4.50 for a pack of 16, www.swiffer.com, or at supermarkets nationwide.

Dish brush for scrubbing gas stove burner grates (page 230):
Vileda Dish and Glass Brush
The bristles on the head of this brush are covered with texturized beads to provide added scrubbing power.
To Buy: $3, 800-543-8105, or at supermarkets nationwide.

Nonabrasive sponge for cleaning oven racks (page 230):
S.O.S. All-Surface Sponge
This light blue sponge has a low-abrasion scrubbing surface on one side for getting rid of stubborn or sticky messes.
To Buy: $5 for three, at OfficeMax and supermarkets nationwide

Bottle brush for cleaning refrigerator condenser coils (page 231):
Oxo Good Grips Bottle Brush
The durable neck of this 13-inch brush flexes, and its handle is nonslip, even under running water. Two types of bristles, both soft, will gently clean hair, lint, and dust from your condenser coils.
To Buy: $4, www.oxo.com.
