Make sure you have an archival photo album before placing pictures on the page, and use archival mounting corners. Blow the pictures clean of dust and particles with photographer’s compressed air (available at most photo-supply and office-supply stores). Then, wearing white cotton gloves to protect the photos from the oils and acids on your skin, place them in the album. Make sure you have insect traps nearby to protect the photo book and its contents from pests. Also, store the album in a place that isn’t moist. The top of a closet is usually a good choice.
Don’t Forget: When displaying important photos outside of an archival photo album, always use duplicates so you can keep the originals protected.
