It may help with the hangover headache, but aspirin will not prevent the dehydration and fatigue that accompany the head-pounding. For those problems, you need lots of water and lots of sleep. By the way, Advil or Aleve will help the headache, too. Just avoid products that contain acetaminophen, which has been linked to liver damage in heavy drinkers. Avoid Excedrin as well, says Mike Pearson, cofounder of Hangoverreview.com, a website devoted to rating over-the-counter cures and helping the common man avoid terrible mornings-after. “Excedrin contains caffeine, which may initially help get rid of your headache but could ultimately leave you more dehydrated,” he says.
