How to Tie the Perfect Bow

Master the classic with these step-by-step instructions.

4 Expert Styling Tips for an Even More Beautiful Bow

  1. Use double-faced ribbon—it has the same color and texture on both sides.
  2. You can use any ribbon, but we prefer heavy satin. It drapes nicely and reflects light. Plus, heavier ribbons give the bow more dimension and shape so it’s not completely flat against the box.
  3. Tie the bow without cutting the ribbon from the spool. Once the bow is looking great, trim the ends.
  4. If the ribbon is sliding off the box, secure it with double-stick tape.
