How To: Make a Seasonal Welcome Mat
What You Need
Natural Fiber Doormat (Ikea.com for stores)
Green Enamel Based Spray Paint
Painter's Tape
Scissors
Newspaper
- Create the shape of the reindeer antlers on your mat with small strips of painter's tape. It's only tape so it's OK if you make mistakes.
- Go to a well-ventilated area and place your doormat on the newspaper. Apply 1 to 3 thin and even coats of spray paint on the exposed area of the mat. (The taped off portion remains unpainted.) Keep the nozzle of your can about 8 to 10 inches away from the mat, and always keep your hand moving while spraying to prevent blotches or drips.
- After allowing the spray paint to dry for a few hours, carefully remove the taped off antler pattern to reveal your fun DIY doormat.
