How To: Freeze Corn
What You Need
Follow These Four Easy Steps
Start by choosing ears of corn that are firm to the touch. Loose husks are a hint that the kernels have dried and shrunk and
won’t be the freshest.
Tip: If the market allows you to peek inside the husks, make sure there are no dried-out kernels. And feel for sticky silks, which
indicate freshly-picked ears.
Place a cutting board in a sheet board to trap the kernels. Trim the ear’s wide end so it’ll be stable to stand upright for the next step.

Using a sharp or serrated knife, slice kernels off the cob in a downward motion. One ear of fresh corn yields about 1/2 cup
of kernels.
Tip: If the corn comes with part of the stalk intact, use it as a handle and stand ear on its narrow end instead.

To freeze, scoop kernels into a resealable plastic bag and store in the freezer. Allow corn to thaw thoroughly before using.
Tip: You can also freeze corn on the cob, either whole or cut in half.
