These Are the Perfect Foods to Eat at the Beach

Plus, how to keep sandwiches from getting, well, sandy.

When you head to the beach this weekend, you'll want your cooler to be packed with snacks and lunches that can withstand ocean breezes—and not get (too) sandy. On this week's "Things Cooks Know," hosts Sarah Humphreys and Sarah Karnasiewicz discuss their favorite low-maintenance beach eats, which they divide into four categories: sandwiches, chips, drinks with straws, and "other." While peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are a classic, they offer a few ways to experiment with other breads and fillings—like grilled veggies, which are even better after marinating for a while in a cooler.

What's in the "other" category? Finger food, fruit, ice cream (of course), and other pre-cut snacks (like nuts or cheese). For their lunch and snack recommendations, as well as the best way to pack your cooler (hint: load it up in the order you'll be eating), listen to the full episode below.
