How To Cook With Sticky Ingredients

Using ingredients like molasses, honey, or peanut butter can lead to sticky situations―literally. Keep sticky ingredients from clinging to your measuring spoons with the easy trick shown in this video.

  • glass of hot water
  • measuring spoon
  • honey or other sticky ingredient
  1. Dip your measuring spoon in hot water

    Making sure that the water is very hot, dunk your measuring spoon into the glass; don’t dry off the spoon.

  2. Measure the sticky ingredient

    Immediately use the heated spoon to measure the ingredient—the heat will keep it from adhering, so it slides right off into your mixing bowl, ensuring that you get the full measurement.
