Hard-boiled eggs are tasty and versatile—but peeling them can be frustrating. Shaking them in a shallow water bath helps the shells crack and separate on their own, so by the time you handle the eggs, they’ll easily slide off.
FOLLOW THESE STEPS
1. Pour 1 inch of water into a saucepot or Dutch oven and gently place the cool, cooked eggs inside.
2. Swirl the pot so the eggs knock together. They should be finely cracked all over.
3. Swirl harder so the shells begin to separate.
4. Peel away the remaining shells.
5. Slice and serve.
