Spiced Oat and Pear Scones

Heat oven to 375° F.

Line 2 baking sheets with parchment.

Whisk together the flour, oats, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg in a large bowl. Add the butter and blend with a pastry blender or your fingers until crumbly. Fold in the pears. Stir in the milk.

Ingredients

  1. Check 3 cups all-purpose flour
  2. Check 1 1/4 cups rolled oats
  3. Check 1/3 cup sugar
  4. Check 1 tablespoon baking powder
  5. Check 1 teaspoon fine salt
  6. Check 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  7. Check 14 tablespoons unsalted butter
  8. Check 2 chopped pears
  9. Check 1 cup whole milk

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 375° F.
  2. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment.
  3. Whisk together the flour, oats, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg in a large bowl. Add the butter and blend with a pastry blender or your fingers until crumbly. Fold in the pears. Stir in the milk.
  4. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and form into 2 6-inch disks. Using a chef’s knife or a pizza cutter, cut each disk into 6 wedges.
  5. Bake, rotating once, until golden brown, 22 to 25 minutes.
