Serves 8| Hands-On Time: 05m | Total Time: 15m

Ingredients

  • 16 sausage links (pork or chicken, sweet or spicy, or a mix)
  • crusty bread or rolls (optional)

Directions

  1. Heat grill.
  2. Prick each sausage in several places with a fork. Place the sausages directly on the grate and grill, turning occasionally, until cooked through, 10 to 15 minutes. (The sausages can be cooked on any part of the grill, wherever space allows. If they're not over direct heat, cook a few minutes longer.) If desired, serve on the crusty bread or rolls.

Quick Tip

Charcoal grill
Mild and tender, pork loin and tenderloin work well with many cooking methods―roasting, pan-searing, grilling, sautéing. Tougher (and less expensive) cuts, like shoulder and butt, are best suited to slow cooking and braising.

    Turnips

Although the turnip has been grown for more than 4,000 years and was one of the first foods to be cultivated in Europe, it is currently underappreciated: It keeps well, takes to almost any cooking method, and has a subtly flavored, tasty flesh.
