Broccoli Rabe and Beef Flat Bread

A semi-homemade pizza that requires no sauce, but fits in everybody’s green vegetable and protein? Yes, please. Our Broccoli Rabe and Beef Flat Bread relies on store-bought pizza dough, which you’ll form into an oval before topping it with browned ground beef, chopped broccoli rabe, thinly sliced red onion, and grated mozzarella. After less than 20 minutes of hands-on time, you’ll let the flat bread bake in the oven until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is perfectly melted. And since you’re knocking out the important dinnertime food groups, there’s no need to throw together a side dish. (So start thinking about dessert!)

Ingredients

  1. Check cornmeal for the pan
  2. Check 1 tablespoon olive oil
  3. Check 1/2 pound ground beef
  4. Check 1 pound pizza dough, thawed if frozen
  5. Check 2 cups chopped broccoli rabe
  6. Check 1/2 red onion, sliced
  7. Check 2 cups grated mozzarella (8 ounces)
  8. Check kosher salt and black pepper

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 425° F. Sprinkle a rimmed baking sheet with cornmeal.
  2. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until no longer pink, 3 to 4 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, shape the pizza dough into a large oval and place on the baking sheet.
  4. Top the dough with the beef, broccoli rabe, onion, mozzarella, and ¼ teaspoon each salt and pepper. Bake until golden brown and crisp, 20 to 25 minutes.
