Ingredients

  1. Check 1 1/4pounds ground chuck (85 percent lean or less)
  2. Check kosher salt and black pepper
  3. Check 4ounces Cheddar, sliced
  4. Check 4 hamburger buns
  5. Check 1/4cup barbecue sauce

Directions

  1. Heat grill to medium-high. Form beef into four ½-inch-thick patties and season with ½ teaspoon each salt and pepper.
  2. Grill the patties (do not press or flatten), 3 to 4 minutes per side for medium-rare. During the last minute of cooking, top with the cheese and cook, covered, until it melts.
  3. Place the burgers on the buns and top with the barbecue sauce.
