  1. Heat broiler.
  2. Split the bagel and, dividing evenly, top the bagel halves with the prosciutto, tomato, onion, and Gruyère.
  3. Broil until the cheese is melted and golden brown, 2 to 4 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle with ⅛ teaspoon pepper.
