Lorraine was saddled with an awkward cut—heavy and blobby with layers that looked like wings—that did nothing to help her coarse hair’s tendency to frizz. The overly dark shade she used to hide her gray wasn’t doing her any favors, either. “I’d like to go more natural and try something more feminine,” says the social worker. “But I don’t know how to transform myself.
