As an adjunct professor of political theory at Columbia University, “I don’t have to be overly formal at my job,” says Giunia, who gets a cut a few times a year and blow-dries the result for “a couple of minutes” every other day. Still, she wishes her hair weren’t so frizzy and thinning—which is why she doesn’t grow it long. Though she likes to mask her grays, she finds endless trips to the salon “a big expense and time commitment.” (Her T-shirt by American Apparel.)
